HU sprinters claim pair of firsts at Fort Wayne Purdue meet

Huntington University sprinters claimed a pair of first place honors at Purdue Fort Wayne’s Fort Wayne Duals over the weekend.

Sophomore Peyton Depriest won the 400-meter dash in :51.93, and junior Avniel Barrow captured the 60-meter dash in :07.04.

Depriest also took fourth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at :23.29.

Andrew Zachary earned second place points twice for HU, finishing behind his teammate in the 400 in :52.30, and being runner-up in the 200 in :22.93, the latter which is the second-fastest time in HU history.

Cameron Worsham also got a second for HU, doing so in the 60-meter hurdles in :08.72, and Lars
 In’t Groen was runner-up in the shot put with a heave of 13.47 meters.

Heath Atkins took third in the long jump at 6.10 meters and Connor Nash was fourth in pole vault at 3.81 meters.

HU placed fourth out of six teams.

Holly Holton was the lone HU women to score points at the meet, wich included several NCAA Division I and Division II schools. The junior thrower claimed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 11.22 meters.
