Viking swimmers get six wins on night but lose to Marion

The Huntington North High School boys’ swim team picked up six victories on the night in a 67-56 loss to visiting Marion on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Three of the four Viking swimmers captured individual wins and the four teamed up for two relays wins.

Junior Nathan York got a pair of wins on the night, taking the shortest and longest of the four freestyle races. He won the 50-yard freestyle in :25.98 and later came back to claim the 500-yard freestyle in 6:17.16.

Senior Keegan Mautz won the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:13.06, and sophomore Cole Davidson was top shelf in the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:10.78.

Those three and freshman Colten Schulte opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, in 1:58.31. They later won the 400-yard freestyle relay, in 5:07.32.

Mautz added a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:15.08, and Davidson took second in the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:09.08.

Schulte scored a pair of second place finishes, doing so in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:38.04, and the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:00.64.
