Lady Vike swimmers blast Marion

Winning nine of the 12 events, the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team blasted visiting Marion, 108-51, on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The Lady Vikes won all three relays and six individual events, with Lacy Lange and Allie Aschliman both winning a pair.

Lange, a senior, captured the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:34.64, and the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:04.43. Aschliman, a junior, took the 50-yard freestyle, in :29.73, and the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:13.27.

Bekah Brunner led a sweep in the 500-yard freestyle, winning in 6:36.24. Teammates Morgan Cogar and Katie Felt were the only other two swimmers in the race, with Cogar placing second in 6:39.16 and Felt placing third in 8:15.60.

Laney Shaw got the remaining solo win for the Lady Vikes, winning the 200-yard individual medley in 2:42.83, with Brunner placing second.

Lange, Aschliman, Shaw and Brinkman won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:16.04 and the same four took the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:58.83. Brunner, Crosley Stanley, Victoria Donaldson and Cogar teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 5:07.32.

Brenna Mason added second place points for HNHS in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:55.38, and Cogar was second in the 50 free, in :32.07. Brinkman was runner-up in both the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:20.47, and the 100 back, in 1:19.45, and Shaw was second in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:25.41.

Stanley added third place points for the Lady Vikes in the 100 free, touching home in 1:19.25.
