Huntington Gymnastics Academy hosts Chalk It Up Chamionship Meet

The Huntington Gymnastics Academy hosted the Chalk It Up Championship Meet on Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Huntington North High School Fieldhouse.

Several gymnasts from the local academy competed and placed at the event.

The academy’s Level 3 team took fourth place. Carlee Strunk took first place on vault, the floor exercise and in the all-around. She also placed second on the balance beam and sixth on the uneven bars. Brailey Norris attained third on vault and bars, fourth on beam, fifth in the all-around and eighth on floor. MaKenzie Cuttriss earned fourth on vault, sixth on beam, ninth on bars, floor and in the all-around.

HGA’s Level 4 squad placed fourth. Norah Fisher claimed second place on vault and beam, third in the all-around, sixth on bars and seventh on floor. Olivia Rosen achieved third on vault, fourth on beam and floor, fifth on bars and sixth in the all-around. Maleah Warpup took eighth on vault and beam and 13th on bars, floor and the all-around.

The Level 5 team from the academy finished fourth. Alana Bonham secured third on beam, fourth in the all-around, sixth on vault and floor and seventh on bars. Brooke Clark attained third on vault and bars, fifth on floor and in the all-around and sixth on beam. Jami Morgan finished sixth on bars, beam and in the all-around and seventh on vault and floor.

The Level 6 squad from HGA captured first place. Lindsay Johnson collected second on vault, bars, floor and in the all-around and fourth on beam. Avery Pohler took fifth on beam and in the all-around, sixth on floor and eighth on vault and bars. Abby Denman achieved fourth on bars, seventh on beam and floor, eighth in the all-around and ninth on vault.

The academy’s high school-level team earned runner-up honors. Janna Teusch grabbed second on vault, fourth on beam and in the all-around and fifth on bars and floor. Emily Manry took second on floor, fifth on vault and beam, sixth in the all-around and seventh on bars. Jalynn Simcoe attained third on vault and floor, sixth on bars and seventh on beam and in the all-around. Kinsey Strine finished eighth on vault, bars, beam, floor and in the all-around.
