Barrow helps HU trackmen capture Grizzly Invite

Avniel Barrow won two races and anchored a third victory as the Huntington University men’s track team won the Grizzly Invitational on Saturday, April 6, at Franklin College.

Barrow, a junior, won the 100-meter dash in :11.20 and the 200-meter dash in :23.02 and anchored the 400-meter relay team win in :43.22. That squad also included Andrew Zachary, Heath Atkins and Cameron Worsham.

HU got six other wins on the day as it piled up 109 points, 43 more than runner-up Mount St. Joseph among the six teams competing.

Adrien Gentie won the 3,000-meter run in 9:01.26, the second fastest clocking in school history, to highlight those other wins.

CJ Robertson won the 800-meter run in 1:57.5, Worsham won the 110-meter hurdles in :15.56 and Atkins won the long jump with a flight of 6.35 meters. Zach Williams won discus with a personal best of 40.34 meters and the Foresters took the 1,600-meter relay in 3:30.33 with a team of Robertson, Josiah Sovine, Elijah Chesterman and Aaron Hendryx.

Williams added a pair of runner-up finishes in the field events, doing so in the hammer throw at 41.44 meters and the shot put at 12.55 meters.

Zachary had a pair of runner-up finishes on the track, placing second in the 200 in :23.23 and the 400-meter dash in :50.59.

Gentie added a second in the 800, in 1:58.20, Hendryx was runner-up in the 3,000, in 9:27.28 and Graham Johnson was second in the 400-meter hurdles, in 1:00.00. Adam Woods was runner-up in the pole vault at 3.65 meters.

Justin Edwards added third place in the 400 hurdles, in 1:05.00, and Connor Nash was third in the pole vault, at 3.65 meters.
