HU netwomen end season with twin losses

The Huntington University women’s tennis team completed its season with a pair of losses on Saturday, April 13, falling to Indiana Wesleyan, 0-5, and Lewis-Clark State College, 1-8, in the IWU Invitational in Marion.

The Foresters finish the season, 12-7.

Against IWU, the Foresters’ top doubles team of Meg Dolde and Morgan Fitzpatrick lost to Alex Mella and Lizzie Bauss, 2-8. The No. 2 doubles team of Lanae Singleton and Lisa Colling fell to Thewuni Devaraja and Maddie Bemisderfer, 4-8, and the third doubles team of Marla Odendahl and Anastasiia Evstifeeva fell to Marissa Kline and Laura Moore, 8-9.

In singles, Fitzpajtrick lost to Mella, 0-6, 0-6, and Evstifeeva got double-blanked by Klein.

The other four matches went unfinished.

Dolde got the lone win against Lewis-Clark. Dolde defeated Begona Andres, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 at first singles.

At third singles Colling fell to Laura Diaz, 4-6, 3-6; Evstifeeva lost to Sophie Uhlenkott at fourth singles, 6-7, 1-6; Singleton at fifth retired against Alexandra Barry; Odendahl lost to Kyla Collier at sixth singles, 6-1, 4-6, 5-10; and Fitzpatrick lost to Laura Roselli at second singles.

In doubles, Dolde and Fitzpatrick fell to Andres and Uhlenkott, 6-8, at No. 1, Singleton and Colling lost at second to Rosselli and Diaz, 6-8, and Odendahl and Evstifeeva fell at No. 3 to Collier and Barry, 8-9.
