HU men's soccer team opens with win

The Huntington University men’s soccer team scored a goal in each half and goalkeeper Gabe Greenfield stopped all six shots he faced as the visiting Foresters recorded a 2-0 season-opening win over host Siena Heights on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Jake Erlandson converted on a penalty kick just over 10 minutes into the game after Noah Fleming was hauled down in the box to give the Foresters a lead they would not relinquish. They scored again in the 75th minute when Erlandson and Christian Kohen got the ball to Luke Unger, who put it behind the Siena goalie for an insurance tally.

The HU defense limited Siena to just seven shots for the game, with Greenfield able to stop all those that came on goal. HU, 1-0, generated 16 shots, with seven on frame.
