HU soccerwomen pick up first win

The Huntington University women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the season, defeating host University of Michigan Dearborn, 3-1, on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The Foresters, 1-1, jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the opening half. Avery Giguere found the back of the net unassisted at the 9:15 mark. The sophomore then assisted on a score by Hannah Williams two minutes later.

After the hosts got on the board at the 53:45 mark in the second half, Huntington countered with a score by Courtney McKown a little under 14 minutes later to go back up by two goals. Ashtyn Patrick assisted on the score.

The Foresters finished with 18 shots, 10 of which were on goal. Bailey O’Dell accounted for four of those scoring looks.

Maddy Moan picked up the win in goal for Huntington, yielding Dearborn’s lone score while recording four saves.
