Forester netmen sweep MVNU

The Huntington University men’s tennis team routed visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene University, 7-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

In singles play, Illia Turaba beat Danny Mayotte in the first match, 6-0, 7-6. The second tilt saw Mateo Ameller dispatch Justin Haggard, 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 3 contest, Sebastian Salas outlasted Drew Jackson, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0. Diego Tapia was victorious in the fourth match, beating Logan Gauthier, 6-2, 6-2. The fifth contest featured a 6-4, 6-2 triumph by Brody Worl over Hunter Winey. Ethan Hyde rounded out the Foresters’ solo wins with a 6-3, 6-0 decision versus Anthony Howard.

In doubles action, the No. 1 duo of Turaba and Salas topped Mayotte and Jackson, 6-4. Tapia and Ameller beat Haggard and Gauthier, 6-2, in the second tilt while Hyde and Andrew Yoder dispatched Winey and Vince LoPrinzi, 7-5, in the third match.

With the win, Huntington improves to 3-4, 3-2 in the Crossroads League.
