HU spikers fall to MVNU

The Huntington University volleyball team suffered a 1-3 defeat to Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Platt Arena.

The Foresters lost the opening set, 23-25, but bounced back with a 26-24 triumph in the second. It was all Cougars after that, however, as the visitors logged wins of 25-21 and 25-23 to defeat Coach Kelsey Herber’s squad.

Huntington, 6-6, 0-2 in the Crossroads League, was paced by senior Paige Eakright, who registered 18 kills. Sophomore Lindsay Ingenito logged 16 kills while junior Brandy Michie produced 14 and freshman Tya Bynum notched 10.

Junior Jennings Tacosik facilitated the offense with 52 assists. She also got in on the scoring with three aces.

Defensively, junior Ariene Butler tallied 23 digs. Eakright recorded 18 digs while junior Nicole Flickinger contributed 12. Bynum produced two blocks and assisted on another.

With the win, Mount Vernon improves to 12-1, 2-0 in conference.
