Viking netboys light up New Haven

Led by a whitewash at first singles, the Huntington North High School boys varsity tennis team wiped out host New Haven, 5-0, on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Sophomore Carson Kitchen led the rout with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Jacob Kortenber at first singles as the Vikings improved to 4-5 on the season.

Isaac Eckert at second singles and Jacob Daugherty at third were just a game off a shutout. Eckert thrashed Isaac Franco and Daugherty squashed Brock Rondot, both by scores of 6-1, 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Noah Zahn and Thomas Schweller had the toughest match of the day, but still won handily, 6-3, 6-2. The second doubles team of Matthew Weill and Reid Eckert won 6-2, 6-0.

The junior varsity match was rained out.
