HU netmen outlast Taylor

The Huntington University men’s tennis team won a trio of three-setters to push past host Taylor University, 5-2, in the Crossroads League regular season finale on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Rodrigo Manzo at second singles, Diego Tapia at fourth singles and Sebastian Salas at fifth all outlasted their foes to key the Foresters to their fifth win of the season against six losses. Manzo defeated Chase Bremner, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2; Tapia knocked off Salvador Lo Cascio, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1; and Salas beat Andre Danelli, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

The Foresters’ fourth win at singles came from the racket of Brody Worl at No. 6, with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Victor Cheng.

The Foresters took two of the three doubles matches for the point there as well. Manzo and Illia Turaba at first defeated Danelli and Christen Jacquottet, 6-4, and Ethan Hyde and Mateo Ameller at third took out Bremner and Seth Graves, 7-6.

Tapia and Salas lost at second doubles, 3-6, to Lo Casico and David Sandi.

Turaba at first singles fell to Santa, 7-6, 4-6, 5-7, and Ameller at third dingles lost to Jacquottet, 4-6, 2-6.
