First double whitewash leads HN netboys over CC

A whitewash by the first doubles team of Noah Zahn and Thomas Schweller highlighted a 4-1 win over visiting Columbia City for the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity tennis team on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The junior duo breezed past Evan Cearbaugh and Sid Singh, 6-0, 6-0, as the Vikings improved to 9-10 on the season.

The Vikings’ second doubles team of Matthew Weill and Reid Eckert was just a notch behind the first duo, beating Tobey Krider and Josh Miner, 6-1, 6-1.

Carson Kitchen won his first singles match over Kendall Smith, 6-3, 6-0, and Jacob Daugherty at third singles won, 6-0, 6-4 over Noah Finfrank.

Isaac Eckert at second singles lost to Eli Jones, 4-6, 1-6, for the only HNHS varsity blemish on the afternoon.

The Vikings lost the junior varsity contest, 2-4.

Winners for the JV Vikes were singles player Chase Mickley and the duo of Bryce Colclesser and Braden Johnson.
