Spring Arbor wins CL showdown with HU soccermen

Visiting Spring Arbor University won the showdown for the Crossroads League title by defeating the Huntington University men’s soccer team, 2-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

The Foresters needed to beat the Cougars to match them for a share of the league crown, but the ninth-ranked Cougars scored twice in the game’s first 10 minutes on the way to finishing with a league mark of 8-0-1. The Foresters, 12-4-2 overall, finish the campaign with a mark of 6-2-1.

Luke Unger scored at the 40:55 mark to put HU within a goal, but despite putting seven shots on goal in the second half, HU could get the typing goal.

Gabe Greenfield took the loss between the pipes, surrendering the two goals and making five stops.

SAU goalie Christopher Banfi made seven stops.
