HU's Stutzman becomes first frosh to win CL cross country title

Haile Stutzman became the first freshman to ever win the Crossroads League Cross Country Championship as he led the Huntington University men’s cross country team to a third place finish on Saturday, Nov. 10, in South Bend.

Stutzman, from Silverton, OR, won the 8K race in a personal best clocking of 24:51.9. He was joined on the all-conference team by junior Elijah Chesterman, who placed fifth out of 147 runners in 25:11.8.

All of the first nine runners for HU established new personal best marks.

Kent Yoder was third man for HU with a time of 25:46 for 16th place. Aaron Hendryx finished 19th in 26:03.9 and Adrien Gentie rounded out the scoring with 20th place in 26:16.0.

HU scored 61 points. Indiana Wesleyan won the team chase with 34 points among the 10 teams and Taylor notched 42.
