Lady Vikes kick off swim season with seventh at Norwell Invite

The Huntington North High School girls’ swim team kicked off its season by finishing seventh out of 12 teams at the Norwell Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Top 12 finishers scored points for their teams.

The Lady Vikings’ best finish on the day was a third place finish by the 400-yard freestyle relay of Laney Shaw, Jacee Dammeier, My MacAlesse and Allie Aschliman, which clocked in at 4:13.36.

MacAleese and Aschliman added fourth place finishes, with MacAleese earning hers in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:34.60 and Aschliman doing so in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.79.

Aschliman also took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:09.63; Shaw was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle, in :27.78; and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:02.26; and Dammeier was seventh in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:24.58. MacAleese added eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:20.30, and Brinkman tied for 11th in the 100 back, in 1:16.14.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Brinkman, MacAleese, Aschoiman and Shaw placed fifth in 2:08.14.

The Lady Vikes tallied 105.5 points. Norwell wo the meet with 223.5 points, Jay Couty was runner-up with 208 and Oak Hill was third with 180.
