Platt scores 31 to lead Foresters past Maple Leafs

Konner Platt scored 31 points to lead the Huntington University men’s basketball team past visiting Goshen College, 75-66, on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Platt, a senior, went 12 of 13 from the free-throw line for his outburst, which helped HU improve to 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in the Crossroads League.

HU held a 35-24 lead at halftime but Goshen got to within four points at 68-64 with 1:41 remaining to go, before HU regrouped to get the win.

Spencer Ballinger scored 13 points as Platt’s wingman and Caleb Middlesworth and Peyton West each added eight.

Austin Branagan led Goshen with 15 points. Michael Bowers and Landon Newnum each netted 12 points and Tahj Curry added 11.

The Foresters hit 25 of 56 shots from the field for 44.6 percent on the night and went 16 of 22 from the charity stripe for 72.7 percent. The Maple Leafs, 3-8, hit 25 of 64 from the floor for 39.1 percent and added 7 of 15 from the floor for 72.7 percent.

West added four assists, two blocks and two steals to his stat line for HU.
