Trio of double-winners not quite nough for HNHS swimgirls

A trio of double winners was not quite enough for the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity swim team as it lost to host East Noble, 94-84.

Laney Shaw won both shorter freestyle races, Allie Aschliman won both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke and MacAleese triumphed in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. Additionally, all three girls swam legs on the Lady Vikings’ victorious 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

The Lady Vikes are 2-2 on the season.

Shaw sped to the sprint win in :28.07 and  went 1:02.54 for the win in the 100. Aschliman won the fly in 1:04.92 and the backstroke in 1:05.45. MacAleese toured the pool in 6:19.62 for the 500 free win and got the breaststroke victory in 1:21.09.

Jacee Dammeier joined the trio for the 200 medley win, in 2:07.93. Alyssa Brinkman joined the trio for the win in the 400 free relay, in 4:20.29.

Brinkman added second place points in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:27.70, with Bekah Brunner taking third, in 2:35.07. Brunner grabbed runner-up in the fly, in 1:20.04.

Dammeier added second in the 200 IM, in 2:51.42 and third in the 100 free, in 1:08.25. Victoria Damsleth-Aalrud took third in the 50 free, in :31.32, and Brinkman was third in the backstroke, in 1:14.78.

The HNHS boys lost to East Noble, 98-16.

Colten Schulte led the two-man Viking team with a first in the 100 back, in 1:01.93, and second in the 200 IM, in 2:31.89. Jeff Gross placed third in both the 50 free and the 100 free, touching home in :29.75 in the former and 1:09.22 in the latter.
