Five-run sixth pushes HU baseball team to fifth win

The Huntington University baseball team used a five-run sixth inning on the way to a 7-1 victory over William Woods on Tuesday, March 17, on the team's spring break Florida trip.

Edwin Rodriguez went 3-4 with three RBI to lead HU, 5-7.

HU pushed one across in the first and it was the only scoring done throughout the first five and a half innings. In the bottom of the sixth, however, Andrew Drummond led off with a single and Rodriguez drove him in with a double to left. Chris Menzie entered as a pinch runner for Rodriguez and scored when Vince Moore doubled to center. After Jarod Hammel was hit by a pitch, Ryan Shell delivered the knockout punch with a thrdee-run home run to left.

The Foresters added an insurance run in the seventh and limited William Woods to one in the top of the eighth.

Anthony Roth picked up the win for HU, giving up one run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven.
