The Huntington University softball team mounted a come-from-behind 5-3 win in its second game against Bethel on Saturday, March 27, at Therese & John Gardner Field. The win avenged a 7-1 loss in the opener.
The top of the seventh saw HU cash in on five of their 10 hits, which included a trio of doubles compliments of Breanna Hines, Jenessa Hasty and Paige Eichelberger. Hasty and Eichelberger knocked in one and two runs respectively with their two-bagger. Eichelberger would then come around to score on Mara Lorkowski’s single to right. It made for a four-run inning that turned Huntington’s 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 lead that stuck.
HU’s first run came in the fourth when Hines logged her first double of the day that brought Kaela Robey home after she singled to left in her at-bat.
Huntington outhit their hosts 10-6 with Sophia Beachy and Hines pounding out three hits apiece.
Adelyn Harsh went the distance to pick up the win. She gave up six hits, three runs and two walks while striking out four.
