Huntington University sophomore Emma Wilson ran races over the weekend of March 27 to be tabbed the Crossroads League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
The University of Illinois transfer was a double winner for the Foresters at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open. In addition to winning the 1,500-meter race and 5,000-meter race, she also punched her ticket to the 2021 NAIA Outdoor T&F National Championships by hitting the “A” standard in both events.
Wilson ran to a first place finish in the 1,500 meters by clocking in at 4:28.76, the second best time nationally and in the HU record books.
She also boasts the nation’s second best time in the 5,000-meter race, having run a 16:06.69 on Saturday, March 27. Her time also shattered the previous Huntington record by two minutes.
Wilson also earned two Crossroads League (CL) indoor track weekly designations this past winter and five CL cross country weekly honors in the fall.
