The Huntington North High School girls varsity basketball team traveled to Snider High School on Tuesday, Nov. 10, trailing early but battling back to earn a buzzer-beater win 45 to 42. With just 1.2 seconds left in the game, Leah Campbell hit Taylor Double for a fall away three-pointer for the win.
It was a slow start for the Lady Vikings, with Snider earning nearly double the points in the first quarter. Ending the first quarter 11 to 6, Snider and Huntington North matched in the second quarter, earning eight apiece to end the half 19 to 14.
The Lady Vikings exploded in the third quarter, with Molly Daugherty earning six points and Double earning 11. Gracie Fields made one of her two free throws in the third quarter, bringing the Lady Vikings to 18 additional points before heading into the final quarter 31 to 32.
Snider’s Jyah LoVett earned five of the team’s 11 points for the final quarter, followed by Jaiden Eyston and Jodyn Poole each with two and Destini Craig and Samantha Kabisch each with one. Try as they may, the lead belonged to HNHS at the very end.
