
The Huntington North High School (HNHS) girls recently traveled to Wawasee High School to compete in the Wawasee Shootout on Thursday, Dec. 30, earning two wins.
The first game featured the Lady Vikings taking on Wawasee, winning a close game of 46-41. The Lady Vikes were down by 10 with just five minutes to go, but with the team managing a late-in-the-game surge, they were able to take the lead and the win.
Grace Sell led the Lady Vikes with 22 points. Emma Daugherty and Leah Campbell followed, chipping in nine points and six points, respectively.
Their next game followed at 6 p.m. that night, against Plymouth High School. Although the scores were much lower for each team, the Lady Vikings managed a 15-point gap by the end of the game. They ended the game against Plymouth 37-22, improving to 11-3 overall for the season.
Sell once again led the way, earning 13 points and eight rebounds for Huntington. Daugherty added nine points.
The junior varsity squad also earned two wins that day, beating Wawasee 30-23 and then Plymouth 20-16. This brings the JV record to 9-3. Corinne Martz led the way during game one, adding 13 points. Haiden Bailey led with eight points in game two.
