The Huntington North softball team had an easy time with Northridge but had a rough night at Kokomo last week.
HN 14, Northridge 2
The Lady Viking softball team defeated Northridge 14-2 in five innings Thursday, April 21.
Ava Poulson picked up the win on the mound.
From the plate, Emma Helvie, Reece Douglass, Poulson, Mara Hendryx, Megan Stephan, and Madison Ptak each had two hits with Stephan and Douglass blasting homeruns.
Kokomo 15, HN 4
The Lady Vikes took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning of their game with Kokomo Saturday, April 23, but it was all Lady Wildkats after that in a 15-4 win over Huntington North.
Kokomo scored two runs in each of the second and third innings, and three in the fourth.
The Lady Vikings scored a run in the third and a run in the fourth.
With Kokomo leading 7-4, the Lady Wildkats scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to clinch the win.
Poulson and Helvie each had two hits for Huntington North, while Douglass drove in two runs with one hit, and Kianna Jennings, and Corinne Martz each drove in a run with one hit. Hendryx, Ptak, Stephan, and Zoey Stanley each had one hit.
Westfield 11, Huntington North 1
Things didn’t get much better in the Lady Viking’s second game of the night Friday in an 11-1 loss to Westfield in five innings.
Westfield scored six runs in the second inning to take control, and three in the fifth to finish the game.
Hendryx led Huntington North with two hits, while Martz, Kinlee Landrum, and Helvie each had one hit.
Huntington North stands at 3-3 on the season and will travel to Columbia City on Wednesday and Warsaw on Saturday.
