Wiley advances to state in 800 and 1600 Lady Vikings place fourth at track regional

Huntington North’s Addy Wiley looks to defend her state championships in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs and will complete in the 4x400m relay at the IHSAA Track & Field Championships on Friday, June 3.

Wiley placed first in the 800m and 1600m run at the Marion Sectional and was part of the second-place 4x400m relay team.
The Lady Vikings placed fourth as a team with 49 points. Fort Wayne Northrop won the team title with 82 points, followed by Carroll (Fort Wayne) with 73, and Homestead with 63.

Wiley won the 800m run with a time of 2 minutes 14.78 seconds, which beat the state finals standard time of 2:15.40, and won the 1600m run in 4:37.98, outdistancing runner-up Lydia Bennett from DeKalb by nearly 30 seconds and also easily passing the state standard time of 5:02.36.
The state standard time allows those not placing in the top 3 of an event to still qualify for the state meet if they reach or surpass that time or mark.
Wiley also teamed up with Emma Holzinger, Gracie Fields, and Ella Colclesser to place second and earn a spot at state in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:03.35.
