HN runner advances to girls state finals

Huntington North’s Ella Colclesser placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.48  at the Carroll Regional Tuesday, May 22, to earn a spot in the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals. The state meet begins at 3 p.m. June 3 at Indiana University Bloomington. The junior also competed in two relays at Carroll, teaming up with Johanna Bragg, Elle McDonald, and Gracie Fields in the 4x800m relay for fifth place, and with Raegan Double, Alyse Geiger, and Fields for a 14th place result in the 4x400m relay. Fields finished in fourth place in the 400m dash, missing a spot at State by 0.44 seconds. Also placing fourth for the Lady Vikings was Janna Teusch in the pole vault, with a mark of 10 feet 0 inches. Anika Carpenter finished in eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 35’ 8.75” while Maeve Wilkinson was 10th in the pole vault.  with an effort of 8’ 6”. Colclesser will compete at the State Finals at Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington on Saturday, June 3. The meet begins at 3 p.m. with Colclesser running the 800m run at 7:45 p.m.
