Another strong pack effort carried the Huntington North High School girls' cross country team to the championship of the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 31.
Athough no HNHS runner placed in the top five, the Lady Vikings took, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 12th places to score only 42 points, 10 better than second place Warsaw.
Becca Goodman led the Lady Viking charge by placing sixth in 21:04.20. Elaine Yahne was seventh in 21:07.00, Natalie Spahr was eighth in 21:08.40, Kayla Patrick was ninth in 21:11.00 and Kelly Ditzler was 12th in 21:27.10.
Cassie Hacker took 14th and Nicole Smith placed 17th to complete the HNHS top seven.
Northwood's Cynthia Medina won the meet individually with a time of 20:27.00.
Warsaw had two runners in the top five, but didn't have the HNHS talent all the way. Columbia City placed third with 58 points, also having two in the top five, and Northwood was fourth among the nine teams with 79 points.
