The Huntington Catholic School eighth and seventh grade volleyball teams competed in the Commodore Volleyball Classic on Saturday, Aug. 28, in Decatur.
The eighth grade team finished third overall in three matches.
In match 1, Catholic beat St. John in two sets, with scores of 25-14 and 25-22. Olivia Woolard, Rebecca Teusch and Kenzie Stephan all had six points each.
The tide turned in match 2, when Huntington fell to St. Joe Hessen Cassel 25-21, 14-25, 8-15. Alexandra Kreider had nine points to lead HC.
In the third and final match, St. Joe Decatur beat the Rams in two sets, with scores of 22-25 and 23-25. Teusch had eight points.
The seventh-graders fared a little better than their older counterparts, finishing second overall.
The seventh grade squad's first match was against St. Charles, which defeated the Rams in two sets, 12-25, 12-25. Alyssa Woolard had six points in the game.
In match 2, Catholic beat St. Joe Decatur 23-25, 25-23, 15-14. Woolard had 14 points and Katie Jamison scored nine points.
In the last match, Huntington defeated St. Rose/St. Louis in two sets, with scores of 25-7 and 25-16. Woolard improved to 17 points and Jamison had seven points.
