The Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team suffered through a tough day at the Logansport Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 4, losing all four of its matches.
Falling to 2-8 on the season, the Lady Vikings fell to Logansport in two games in their opener, 9-25, 9-25, and then did better but still went two and out against Manchester, 22-25, 15-25. They then took both South Bend Washington and Portage to three games before falling.
The Lady Vikings went up on Washington, 25-16, but then fell 19-25 and 11-15. They had their closest match of the day with Portage, dropping a 24-26 heart-breaker, winning 25-22 and then losing 10-15.
Junior outside hitter Este Stoffel led the way against Portage with 11 kills in 15 attempts. She also had six digs and served two aces.
Sophomore Alexis Wygant added nine kills, six digs and two aces. Setter Kayla Koch had 29 assists.
Against Washington, Wygant led the way with seven kills and six digs. Stoffel had five kills, seven digs and two aces, and Koch had 20 assists and seven digs. Taylor Hiers added nine digs to the HNHS total.
Emiley Gray had 10 digs in the second match against Manchester, and Koch had nine assists and six digs.
Wygant had nine digs in the opener against Logansport.
