Billy Ray and Wes Carroll combined for a two-hitter to lead the Huntington North High School baseball team past visiting Marion, 3-0, on Tuesday, May 5.

Jamon Hammel, Brett Wiley and Andrew Doctor each had RBI hits as HNHS pushed across one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth on the way to squaring its season mark at 7-7.

Ray evened his mark at 2-2 with 5-2/3 innings of two hit ball, striking out eight and walking four. Carroll got his first save of the season by hurling 1-1/3 innings of hitless ball, striking out three.

Ray and the Giants' hurler Tucker matched zeroes through three innings before the Vikings got on the board in the fourth. After the first two Vikings went down on strikes, Shaun Marion doubled to left-center. After Cole Bowman came in to run for Marion, Doctor drove him in.

A one-out walk to Taylor Harris got the Vikings started in the fifth, and Harris wound up on third due to the Marion pitcher's error on a failed pickoff. Hammel then drove him in with a single and promptly stole second before coming home on Wiley's double to right-center.

Wiley had two hits for the game to lead the Vikings' eight-hit attack.

HNHS is 2-1 in the North Central Conference.
