Norwell puts away HNHS tennis team, 4-1

The first doubles team of Kourtney Brubaker and Whitney Switzer were the only winners on the day for the Huntington North High School tennis team as it lost to host Norwell, 4-1, on Friday, May 15.

Brubaker, a junior, and Switzer, a senior defeated Jaylee Leman and Haley Chaney, 6-2, 7-5, to keep Norwell from the sweep.

First singles player Whitney Neuenschwander went three sets before losing her match to Kaylee Imel, 6-4, 2-6, 3-6. The number two doubles team of Taylor Willcox and Keisha Shrock also pushed to three sets before losing, 6-3, 5-7, 3-6, to Kourtney Reed and Christy Taylor.

At second singles Abby Berry lost to Alyssa Tucker, 1-6, 3-6, and Taryn Wuensch at third singles lost to Rachelle Rodenbeck, 4-6, 0-6.

The Lady Vikings are now 8-5 on the season.

The HNHS junior varsity had a little better success against Norwell but still lost, 5-3.

Winners for HNHS were singles players Felecia Alderman and Macy Phillips and the second doubles team of Anne Hacker and Brittany Stpehan.
