Treasurer’s office open on Nov. 2 to take property tax payments

The Huntington County Treasurer’s Office, located on the first floor of the Huntington County Courthouse, will be open to take property tax payments on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Taxpayers are urged to take advantage of the much shorter lines on Saturday. The last day to pay property taxes is Tuesday, Nov. 12. Penalties will be added after that date.

Property tax statements for both spring and fall are mailed in the spring. Taxpayers who do not have their tax statements can find the amount due online through the GIS-Beacon website at www.huntington.in.us, under “Tax History, 2018 Pay 2019, Bal Due” columns.

Taxpayers who have a tax bill can make their payments at Bippus State Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, First Federal Savings Bank, First Source Bank, First Merchants Bank and Lake City Bank.

Payments can be mailed to Huntington County Treasurer, 201 N. Jefferson St., Room 104, Huntington, IN 46750. The payment must include the tax bill and the taxpayer’s phone number must be printed on the check. To receive a receipt, include a postage paid, self-addressed envelope. Mail that is postmarked with a date no later than Nov. 12 will be considered on time.

Payments with a credit or debit card or E-check can be made online at bill pay.forte.net/huntington cointax or by calling 877-690-3729; use 2421 for the jurisdiction code.  A fee is charged for using credit or debit cards or E-checks.

Credit or debit cards or E-checks are not accepted in the treasurer’s office.

Payments can be made in the treasurer’s office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as well as on Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. The courthouse will be closed Nov. 5 for Election Day and Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
