Alan R. Schlagenhauf

Alan R. Schlagenhauf, 57, of Leesburg, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at 11:42 p.m. at his home after battling cancer.

Mr. Schlagenhauf attended Wawasee High School in Syracuse, graduated from South Adams High School in Berne and attended Huntington College. He was formerly employed at Chore Time Brock in Milford for 17 years, Ron Shortt Pest Control in Leesburg and was the former owner/operator of Alan’s Bait and Tackle in North Webster.  He was a Syracuse Little League coach.

He was born June 13, 1962, in Decatur, to Phillip B. and E. Naoma Rutledge Schlagenhauf. His mother survives in Leesburg. He married Elizabeth A. “Lisa” Landon on Jan. 22, 1983, in Huntington, and she also survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Kylee (Kenny) Eaton, of Syracuse; two sisters, Fay (Dan) Schwartz, of Middlebury, and Dianne (John) Givens, of Madison, WI; two brothers, Phillip Mark (Linda) Schlagenhauf, of Decatur, AL, and Doug Edgar, of Wren, OH; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Alan Schlagenhauf.

Calling is Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, from noon to 4 p.m. at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 4 p.m. at the funeral home , with Justin Landon, minister at the Community Life Center Church in Warsaw, officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN.
