Joan Stout

Joan Stout, 91, of Bluffton, IN, died Thursday morning Nov. 7, 2019, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation in Markle, IN.

Mrs. Stout was a homemaker and served as a nurse's aide at the Wells Community Hospital for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 111 Ladies Auxiliary for more than 40 years and a member at the First Reformed Church in Bluffton. Joan served on the Wells County Election Board for several years.

She was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Bluffton to Garth J.  and Mildred L. Hanley Roof. She married Thomas D. Stout on June 30, 1949, in Bluffton, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1991.

Survivors include a son, David (Sandy) Stout, of Bluffton; four daughters, Beverly (Mike) Lobsiger, of Punta Gorda, FL; Jennifer (William) Platt, of Poneto; Brenda “Sue” (Joseph) Wehr, of Muncie; and Amy (Greg) Castilow, of Bluffton; one sister, Barbara Garlock of Lima, OH; a brother-in-law, Gene Buxton, of Anaheim, CA; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at the Goodwin – Cale and Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Dr. Bryson E. Bell officiated.

Burial took place at the Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials are to the American Legion Post 111 Ladies Auxiliary or First Reformed Church in Bluffton.
